M. MERCEDES BADIA-TAVAS has been practicing in the area of Immigration and Naturalization Law since 1993, focusing on immigration matters for Fortune 500 companies as well as small businesses. Ms. Badia-Tavas is a member of the AILA Congressional Advocacy/Liaison Committee, the American Bar Association-International Section, the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois, and the Metropolitan Leadership Institute of Chicago. Ms. Badia-Tavas has been a contributing author for past Immigration & Nationality Law Handbooks and counsels clients on the employment of foreign nationals and compliance issues within her immigration practice. Ms. Badia-Tavas graduated from Tulane Law School in 1993 and Agnes Scott College majoring in Economics and Spanish in 1986. She is fluent in Spanish and has traveled and lived throughout Latin America.
